Camp Reflection

Last week on Wednesday my whole school went to camp. Our campsite was at Totara Springs located in Matamata. There were lots of different activities like Paintball, Hydro slide, Kayaking, and way more fun activities. My favourite highlight of the 3 days we were there was probably the adventure run. The Adventure run was an obstacle course that goes into the forest of Totara Springs. The adventure run was a challenge and a competition between every single Activity Group. To be honest most of the activity’s weren’t really that challenging but if I had to pick it would probably be Paintball because instead of paintball guns we used slingshots and they were really hard to aim that’s what I found most challenging.

What’s your favourite all time moment of camp?

Drinking Water

Today we were learning about Drinking water. Our instructor Kathryn was telling us about the stages that our water goes through to turn it into treated water. The water first goes through a screen so all the bigger items can go away and the only thing that will be left is stuff that is smaller than 3MM. After that it will go to the grit remover to remove all the sand from the untreated water. Then it goes to the sedimentation so all of the sand falls to the ground and separates from the water. After that that the untreated water will go through the clarifier to and then it will go and be disinfected with chlorine so that any bacteria, virus will be removed from the water then they will add fluoride to the water.

Why do you think they add fluoride to the water ?

My Spoken Word

Today in class we were learning how to write spoken word. For  spoken word you should show emotion in your speech, because it can draw in the audience’s attention. You should also use facial expressions as well because it makes your Spoken Word more interesting.  Intonation is important so you don’t just sound like a robot. In spoken word you should include a topic, a gateway line, sensory details, repetition and wordplay, and make it sound amazing. Here’s my Spoken word that I am currently working on.

If you wrote spoken word, what would your topic be about ?

Turbo Touch For PE

For PE we were learning how to step and dodge people from touching you in turbo touch. We would get split into different teams and each team would have to have a few requirements. So there would have to be One tall person, one short person, A Fast person and A strong person. We need these requirements so that when we play it won’t be unfair because imagine a game with all the fast people i one team and all the slow people in the other team. The rules of Turbo touch is that you can foward pass and you can run anywhere on the court. You cannot stay in the try zone longer than 3 seconds otherwise it will be a turnover and this applies to both teams offending and defending team. When you get touched you must put the ball on the ground and touch it with your feet than you may pass it to your team mate. Heres a short video of game play of turbo touch:Turbo touch Gameplay
